Social Communication & Teamwork Program
Brick by Brick is a psychologist-led social development program that uses collaborative LEGO® activities to strengthen communication, teamwork and social confidence.
Children work together to complete increasingly engaging building challenges while naturally practising important social skills. Every child plays an essential role in the team’s success, encouraging communication, cooperation and flexible thinking.
Rather than simply building LEGO® models, children learn how to work with others, solve problems together and navigate real-life social situations in a fun, motivating environment.
Throughout the program, children practise:
- Social communication
- Active listening
- Conversation skills
- Teamwork
- Problem solving
- Flexible thinking
- Perspective taking
- Joint attention
- Emotional regulation
- Friendship skills
Each session combines structured building activities with guided reflection and therapist support to help children transfer these skills into everyday situations at home, school and within their friendships.

Brick by Brick LEGO® – Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Brick by Brick Program?
The Brick by Brick Program is a collaborative, LEGO®-based social skills group where children work together to complete building challenges while naturally developing communication, cooperation and problem-solving skills. It is based on the principles of LEGO® brick-based therapy, now widely delivered through the internationally recognised Brick-by-Brick® programme.
Is this just a LEGO® club?
No.
Although children use LEGO® as the activity, the primary focus is developing social communication and interaction skills. Building together creates natural opportunities for children to practise working with others while having fun.
What skills will my child develop?
Throughout the program, children practise:
- communication
- active listening
- teamwork
- turn-taking
- flexible thinking
- collaborative problem solving
- negotiation
- emotional regulation
- friendship skills
- confidence in social situations.
These are all skills naturally embedded within the building activities.
Who is the program suitable for?
The program is suitable for children who enjoy LEGO® and would benefit from developing social communication, confidence and peer interaction skills.
LEGO® brick-based programs have traditionally been used with neurodivergent children but are now used much more broadly with children who benefit from practising social interaction in a structured and engaging way.
Does my child need a diagnosis to attend the program?
No, your child does not need a diagnosis to attend. A formal diagnosis is only necessary if you intend to access Medicare rebates.
How does LEGO® help develop social skills?
Activities are designed so children work together towards a shared goal. They communicate, listen to one another, solve problems, negotiate ideas and support each other throughout the building process. These shared experiences create meaningful opportunities to practise real-life social skills.
My child is shy. Will they be expected to talk?
Children are encouraged to participate at their own pace. The structured nature of the activities often makes social interaction feel more natural and less intimidating than traditional conversation-based groups.
Do I need to stay during the session?
No. Parents/carers do not need to stay in the session but are required to stay nearby, in case the child needs them. Families are required to be present 15 minutes before the session end time for handover and feedback.
Is a payment plan available?
We will have payment plans available for programs running in 2027.
Can I use NDIS funding, Medicare or private health insurance to pay for the program?
Your child may be eligible for NDIS funding, a Medicare rebate or a private health insurance rebate, depending on your individual circumstances and the requirements of the relevant funding or rebate program.
Eligibility and claiming arrangements vary. We are happy to answer your questions and discuss the options with you before you enrol.
Can I use NDIS, Medicare and private health insurance together?
Only one funding or rebate option can be used for the program. If you are unsure which option is appropriate for your circumstances, please contact us and we will be happy to answer your questions.
Expression of Interest Form
Our small-group children’s programs are being delivered in the Rouse Hill area to support children at different stages of social, emotional and developmental growth.
We have developed programs for different age groups and developmental needs, with each program designed around specific skills and goals. We are now inviting families to express their interest so we can finalise group placement and session arrangements.
Please complete the short Expression of Interest (EOI) form to let us know which program you are interested in, your child’s age and the areas you would like them to develop.
Submitting an EOI does not commit you to enrolment or payment. It allows us to understand your child’s needs, place children into appropriately matched groups and contact you regarding available places and next steps.
If you are unsure which program is the best fit for your child or would like to discuss your child’s needs before submitting the form, please call or email us.
