About Scopic Care
Walking beside you in your journey toward self-exploration, inner peace, clarity of mind, and health
Saleha (Sal) Abbasi
Principal Psychologist and Founder of Scopic Care
Living a purposeful life is my absolute passion, and to ensure I stay true to this goal, I reflect a lot on myself and everything around me.
I discovered psychology as an elective in Year 11, and I never seriously considered a career in anything else. In 20 years of working in mental health, I’ve provided grounded, practical, culturally appropriate support for people across three continents (Asia, Australia, and the Middle East).
In 2022, I founded Scopic Care. ‘Scopic’ describes two things at the heart of my approach as a psychologist.
Firstly, it means ‘taking a scientific view’ of a subject.
The evidence-based therapies we offer reflect my team’s commitment to providing best practice care backed by solid science.
Secondly, ‘scopic’ means ‘taking a broad-spectrum view.’ And this reflects my team’s commitment to inclusivity in every sense — our clients’ backgrounds, and the range of perspectives and beliefs they bring to therapy. Beyond this, though, I also believe in therapy’s transformative power to enhance our lives and help us grow at any point, even when things are going well.
I currently offer therapy sessions Australia-wide to individuals, couples and families from all backgrounds and faiths. Therapy can be a space to better understand what is happening, work through difficulties and develop more helpful ways of relating to yourself and others.
I can help you with:
- Regulating your emotions
- Exploring issues around identity and self-worth
- Dealing with anxiety and OCD
- Identifying and changing behaviours and habits that don’t serve you well
- Navigating life changes and transitions
- Dealing with trauma in its many forms: childhood and adult, generational and recent, work or personal life
- Improving communication and understanding in relationships
- Working through recurring conflict, disconnection or misunderstandings
- Navigating changes and challenges within families
- Understanding patterns in relationships and developing healthier ways of relating.
Outside of work, I garden—mostly herbs and veggies. I cook—mostly whatever my kids currently approve of. To recharge, I turn to nature – bushwalking, beaching or the mountains. To stimulate my ever-curious mind, I read or listen to rap and hip-hop. To switch off, I watch crime shows with my dog sleeping on my lap.

What We Value
- Personalised Support
We don’t believe in one size fits all, so we tailor the support we offer as per your needs. We work alongside you in line with your neurotype, culture, religious beliefs, and personal values.
- Genuine Relationships
Building a positive connection with our clients is a priority for us. Every individual and family we work with is seen, connected with, and heard without any pre-existing lens, but with a genuine desire to understand what you need support with fully.
- Clarity and Empowerment
Feeling lost is not beneficial, and it is never helpful for us to reach our goals or be happy. And this is why we assist people in understanding who they are, what they want, and in developing or brushing up on their identity, so they can feel proud of who they are.
- Collaboration and Communication
We work closely with everyone who plays a role in your care, like GPs, schools, allied health professionals, and support coordinators. When working with children, families are at the core of our support, ensuring we are all on the same page to assist the child in all environments.
